An Interview With Camila Bramani, Fashion Model from Italy

RK : Say something about you.

Camila : Hi everyone! I’m Camila Bramani and I’m 23. I live in a small town called Pontelambro near the capital of the fashion Milano. I’m not super tall as a model supposed to be, I’m 172 cm.

RK : About your career as model. How did you get started?

Camila : Since I was a little girl I was tall and skinny, all of my parents and friend said "Ah, you could be a model” and this affirmation led me to accept a photographer's proposal to pose for his shots, I started at 17 and I never stopped.

RK : Best modeling experience ever?

Camila : I once had a shooting in a waterfall, and I had a very long red dress that made me hard to swim and reach the rocks but it turned out really well

RK : What do you enjoy most in modeling?

Camila : I love that I can be a different person in every shooting from the next door with no make up to a famme fatate in lace underwear and cat's eye.

RK : What is one of your favorite photographs from your career so far? Who shot it?

Camila : I think my favorite picture is taken by Alessandro Goretti in a studio near Lecco.

RK : Main challenges in modeling today?

Camila : The challenge for us models today is that the categories have increased. They accept many more kinds of "Beauty” and girls. The Curvy one, with tattoos, with inesthetisms like vitiligo or albinism. Years ago, being a model required certain standards, now it's much more "easy” to get into a part of it and the competition between girls is much higher because being chosen between thousands is more difficult than being chosen between ten.

RK : What skills according to you are necessary to be a successful model ?

Camila : You have to be accommodating. if you're told to wear a dress you don't like or shoes that you get hurt, you gotta wear them. You must be camaleontic, you must adapt, you must be able to take a photo in a frozen waterfall or in the sun in the summer, you must seems to be happy even if you are sad. It’s all about the appearance.

RK : How do you stay up to date regarding fashion?

Camila : I'm graduate in fashion design... for me as well as a job, fashion is a passion. I follow all the Fashion Week, read fashion magazines and trends, but more importantly, it's looking at how people dress on the street... fashion always starts out there.

RK : Can you share the funniest or most interesting story that happened to you since you became a model?

Camila : It's embarrassing and I hadn’t told anyone about it yet hahaha, so I had to take pictures with water, I had to stand behind a glass panel and on this one the water was dropped, I didn't quite understand how I had to do and I didn t see the glass because it was sooooo clean and I went to slam my face to the glass leaving a stamp of my make up on it.

RK : What are the 5 Things you want to tell newbies before he/she become a model and why.

Camila : 1 - Remember that beauty is subjective and if someone doesn't like you, it doesn t mean you're not beautiful.

2 - No one will give you anything, you have to work to get your name known and unforgivable.

3 - Every job is important, especially at the beginning you will not have the luxury of choosing what to do and what not to do, and that is always experience.

4 - Take care of yourself! drink water a lot, always remove your make up and put lots of cream especially during the fashion week that you change 10 times the make up and the skin gets mistreated

5 - Trust on serious agencies, you must never pay the agency, never at the beginning because they invest on you and earn if you earn... if you are young at the casting take your parents with you and if the agency tells you that you can’t take anyone is not a serious agency.

RK : Have you ever been to India and anything you know about Indian Art & Culture?

Camila : I have never been to India, but I have always been fascinated by your culture and all the colors that you use for the dress. are between my programmes to visit you as a tourist

RK : We (Retro Kolkata) are trying to make a bridge between National and International Art & Culture By featuring some National & International personalities who already have made their own path in their respective fields and we think your story and tips might help the newcomers to build their career. Please say something about our initiative and any special message for your Indian followers.

Camila : It’s cool to think that a single person like me or as any of you through the social can reach someone else who is on the opposite side of the world, we have a great deal to learn from each other in countless fields as well as fashion and art.

For any questions or curiosity I am always willing to answer through my social channels and if you pass by Italy it would be such an honor to say hello to each one of you.
